ENNIS, MONTANA

Ennis Montana is a western town with personality—the locals refer to Ennis as “a small drinking town with a fishing problem.” There is no shortage of places to soak up some real Montana character from Willie’s Distillery to the Gravel Bar. If Ennis character isn’t enough, Big Sky is accessible for all of its year around sporting activities and its shopping and culinary experiences.

FISHING & HUNTING

Besides the easy access to the Madison River and its famous Fifty Mile Riffle, there is more excellent fishing nearby on the Gallatin River, the Jefferson River, Yellowstone National Park, and many spring creeks. Ennis is surrounded by excellent hunting in the Madison-Bear Creek Wildlife Management Area. With a proper license, elk, deer, black bear, mountain goat, moose, and grouse can all be had in this prolific area.

LOCAL CULTURE

If you expect this sportsman's paradise to have plenty of places to grab a beer and a great steak—Ennis does not disappoint. In addition, there are year-round events that keep things lively. Experience a taste of real Western character at the famous Ennis 4th of July Parade and Rodeo or meet up with other anglers from around the country at the annual fly fishing festival in August. Further afield, but still close enough for an easy day trip, towns like Virginia City and Bozeman offer even more activities and events.
